Stan WlodarczykStan Wlodarczyk

Certified Prosthetist in Canada and America
Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists

With over 30 years’ experience in prosthetics, Stan has long been a pioneer in the field. He was the sole prosthetist in the engineering design process and clinical trials for the prototype of the Ottobock C-Leg (the first intelligent microprocessor-controlled knee).

He collaborated also in conceptualizing and trialing the Harmony/VASS vacuum-assisted socket system. In 1999, as an adjunct instructor for TEC Interface Systems, Stan introduced custom liners and VASS technology to Canada.

Stan received his degree in physical education from the University of Alberta and his diploma in prosthetics and orthotics from New York University’s School of Medicine.

He is the only Canadian to receive a Fellowship in the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists (the highest achievement in Continuing Education).

Stan also has an extensive background in gait-training.

Working with an amputeeDan MacKinnon

BPE, CP(c)

Certified Prosthetist in Canada

Dan comes from a rehabilitation background. After receiving a degree in physical education from the University of Alberta, he began a career as an exercise therapist where he was introduced to prosthetics.

Prosthetics was a natural fit for him — a place he could combine dedication to amputees with a love of building things with his hands.

He later graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s program in prosthetics and orthotics and has been with P&O Care Co. both as a resident and certified prosthetist.

Dan says that he loves witnessing the sense of accomplishment and optimism when a client stands up for the first time on a prosthesis. “Even on a regular day, we have the opportunity to reduce pain or improve function. In rehabilitation, this kind of real-time intervention is rare.”

What our clients say about us

“After a few minutes I knew that Stan felt I could resume a normal life with only minor inconveniences. I also realized that his qualifications and training as a prosthetist were extremely high … Aided by the new legs that Stan made for me, I farmed for three more years. I drove everything I ever drove before. I carried, climbed, pulled, and pushed; and when picking rocks, I could out-pick my hired man. At the end of a hard day I would be exhausted, but my stumps were comfortable. In fact, sometimes I would go to bed with my legs on so that I could get going first thing in the morning.”
— Allen Kurtz

“Thanks again, Stan, for doing such a great job. It always amazes me how you can get the alignment almost perfect without me even trying the legs on. Your expertise and professional knowledge are amazing and very much appreciated as always.”
— Rob Leigh

“Dan treated me with great skill and patience while I learned to navigate on my new leg. Thank you Dan and staff for caring for me so well.”
